Statement of intent-
I intend to create front covers and contents pages for two editions of an entertainment magazine for Hearst UK. I also need to create an online counterpart that clearly links to and promotes the magazine, with a homepage and linking page. I will use the four areas of the media theoretical framework, of which include representation, language, industry and audience, to create meaning and meet the requirements of my chosen brief. The first edition of my magazine will feature a female pop singer, this will be a mid-shot to follow the typical conventions of an entertainment magazine. I will ensure the chosen subject/model appeals to the target audience provided by the brief (a fun loving 16-25 year old mass market demographic). It is typical of entertainment magazines to use female models as a form of male-gaze, I could use this theory when creating my products in order to attract a male audience. I intend to use puffs with words like 'exclusive', which are very common in entertainment magazine, and also is often used in Hearst Magazines because it links to their goal which is to attract a wide audience. I will create exclusive content from a variety of music in order to create relevant content and engage people, this links to the industries goal and means that I am following the brief by sticking to the industry ideas. In my second edition I will be using a male model of colour who is a similar age to my target audience, in order to attract a diverse target audience. In all my final products I will use one main image, this is typical of entertainment magazines and is often the main headline, I will surround this image with smaller articles so to immerse the audience in a wide variety of content. Similarly after researching magazines of the entertainment genre it is clear to me that a bright colour is often used to make the main story stand out, I wish to do this for my main story in order to stick to entertainment conventions.
The way in which I plan to link my chosen media product (entertainment magazine) to demonstrate my knowledge and understanding of digitally convergent nature of the production will be through the creation of a website. I will maintain digital convergence to my main products through the use of a logo and image placement, these will be similar to my magazine so that the audience can link the two products together. I want to have a continued colour scheme throughout both products (magazine editions and website) to create a sense of identity for the magazine. I will also have links from my magazine editions to my website in order for audiences to get involved in the content that is put into each issue.
